Novel Vaccine Delivery Technology

چکیده

Infections of the respiratory and GI tracts are among the most common diseases of piglets worldwide and cause substantial economic loss to swine producers. Effective immunity to these infections needs a specific response at the surface of the tract (Bozic et al., 2002). However vaccine formulation and delivery to these surfaces remains a major challenge. Recent evidence of this type of immune response in the intestinal mucosa, using a unique animal model system developed at VIDO, supports the importance of delivering antigen directly to the site (targeting) where an effective immune response is desired (Gerdts et al., 2001). An alternative mucosal immunization can be achieved by aerosol delivery to the upper respiratory tract and by including immuno stimulatory (CpG) DNA in the vaccine (Alcon et al., 2003).

Preparation, characterization and stability investigation of chitosan nanoparticles loaded with the Echis carinatus snake venom as a novel delivery system

The chitosan nanoparticles used widely as a drug delivery systems recently. In the present study the Echis carinataus snake venom loaded chitosan nanoparticles were prepared based on ionic gelation of tripolyphosphate and chitosan. The nanoparticles physicochemical characteristics, stability and biological activity of encapsulated venom were studied. The particles were spherical in shape and th...

Chitosan-based Nanoparticles in Mucosal Vaccine Delivery

Most infectious diseases are caused by pathogenic infiltrations from the mucosal tract. Nowadays, the use of vaccines has been widely investigated for the prevention of different infectious diseases, infertility, immune disorders, malignancies, and allergies. Broad-spectrum adjuvant substances have been studied for immune system stimulation with a greater efficiency against specific antigens. V...

Polymer-basednanoadjuvants for hepatitis C vaccine: The perspectives of immunologists

The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is an infection that affects the liver tissues in humans, leading to the development of effective prophylactic and therapeutic HCV vaccines to prevent a global epidemic. Scientists consider it challenging to produce a therapeutic vaccine for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma as opposed to a preventative vaccine. However, several drawbacks are involved with a ...

Preparation and Characterization of Agkistrodon Halys Venom Entrapped Chitosan Nanoparticles: Novel and Advanced Antigen Delivery and Adjuvant System

Background & Aims: In recent years, the feasibility of hydrophilic nanoparticles has been broadly investigated for use in drug delivery and therapeutic systems. Due to the problems of traditional adjuvants, in this study Agkistrodon halys (Ah) Snake venom was loaded in chitosan nanoparticles (CS NPs) in order to be used as an advanced adjuvant and antigen delivery system in ant...

A novel dry powder influenza vaccine and intranasal delivery technology: induction of systemic and mucosal immune responses in rats.

Intranasal (i.n.) vaccination represents an attractive non-invasive alternative to needle-based injection and provides superior protection at mucosal surfaces. However, new formulations are needed to improve efficacy and reduce the refrigerated storage and distribution requirements associated with standard liquid vaccines. Here, we describe a powder formulation of whole inactivated influenza vi...

Vaccine process technology.

The evolution of vaccines (e.g., live attenuated, recombinant) and vaccine production methods (e.g., in ovo, cell culture) are intimately tied to each other. As vaccine technology has advanced, the methods to produce the vaccine have advanced and new vaccine opportunities have been created. These technologies will continue to evolve as we strive for safer and more immunogenic vaccines and as ou...
